LHG Flood Donation Drive for Affected Employees

Malaysia is now slowly recovering from one of the worst floods to hit in 25 years. The damage has been extensive people have lost homes, furniture, appliances, vehicles and personal items. 14 of our staff in Selangor and Pahang have also been badly affected by the floods.However, the worst has already passed, and now is the time for us to rebuild. The government and many NGOs have launched programs to help victims of the flood. In consideration of the ongoing efforts, as well as the seriousness of this natural disaster, our company has decided to organize a one-time only donation drive to help our colleagues get back on their feet as soon as possible. From 3 January 2022 – 5 January 2022, the company will be collecting donations which will be distributed fairly to the 14 of our staff who have been affected. Donations can be made via bank transfer to our company’s account, as below: Donation has ended. Thank You.
Thanks to the generosity of all the donors, we were able to raise RM9940.00 for our staff who were affected by the floods. This is a great example of our Muhibbah spirit, and the Lein Hing Group family coming together to help our colleagues in their time of need! On behalf of the management of the company, we would like to sincerely thank all the donors who participated in this donation drive. Moving forward, 2022 will definitely be a wonderful year for all of us!

Acquisition in Malaysia: Merison Group

The parent company of Lein Hing Group, Kato Sangyo Co. has expanded its business footprint in Southeast Asia by acquiring a similar business Merison (M) Sdn. Bhd. of Malaysia for over a 90-percent stake of Merison, while the 10 percent remains in Merison. The acquisition process was completed in October 2020.
The acquisition of the Melaka Province-based food wholesaler with a strong foothold in the Southern part of the Malaysia Peninsula will allow Kato Sangyo to expand its operation to the whole area of the peninsula.
In 2018, Kato Sangyo took over Lein Hing Holdings Sdn. Bhd., a Malaysian food wholesaler that covers northern regions of the peninsula.
The Tokyo-listed firm has operations in China, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam outside Japan. Its operating profit for the fiscal year through September 2019 increased 5.9 percent from a year earlier to about 10.8 billion yen on revenue of 1.06 trillion yen, up 5.4 percent. Overseas sales represented 3.9 percent of the total revenue.

Our response to COVID-19

In today's unprecedented times, our goal of improving quality of life and contributing to a healthier future is more important than ever. During the pandemic, we work closely with authorities and business partners to maintain the health of all employees while continuing our business to fulfill our obligations to the country as a basic food and beverage distributor. How epidemics have a minimal impact on the company, performance results, and most importantly, our employees are a major concern of the leaders in LEIN HING GROUP.
Protecting our employees
Since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak earlier last year, we have put in place stringent safety and health measures across our work areas, including our offices and distribution centers, and conducted detailed communications to all our employees on how to safeguard against the virus. Some of the safety measures adopted within our offices and distribution centres:
Encouraging office-based employees to work from home whenever possible. Providing all employees with face masks and ensuring hand sanitisers are widely available. Employees physically returning to the office are required to adhere strictly to the safety protocols and measures defined, including:- • practicing physical distancing • compulsory usage of face masks whenever interacting with others • frequent hand washing • regularly sanitising work places and common areas before and after use • ensuring restroom hygiene, etc. Safety measures have also been made to reduce pressure on high traffic areas and common spaces in the buildings, such as elevators, pantries and washrooms.
Provided frequent communication and guidelines to employees:
Employees have been regularly engaged and educated on good practices to minimise the risk of infection both at work and at home. We have also published our Covid 19 Prevention Management SOP which outlines general guidelines on health screenings, self-declaration on travel and close contacts, essential hygiene practices, physical distancing guidelines including for meetings, as well as procedures on reporting a COVID-19 case in the workplace among other topics. Health screening at our site entry points for all employees, visitors and contractors:
Body temperature checks: • Temperature screenings are done upon entry at our offices, warehouses and distribution centers. Only those with body temperature less than 37.5°C will be allowed to enter the premise.
Guidelines on events (internal and external)
For the time being, we have cancelled all internal or external events, as we endeavour to do our part to protect the health and safety of our employees, business partners, and the communities around us. Where possible these events have been conducted virtually.
The Gift of Life 2

Our joint CSR project “The Gift of Life” was a hit! We have successfully raised RM100,000 to St John’s Ambulance of Malaysia to be used towards the purchase of additional dialysis machines for their patients. We would like to thank our project partners 99 Speedmart Sdn Bhd and also Procter & Gamble (M) Sdn Bhd for their cooperation, as well as all the shoppers who have made this project a success.
The Gift of Life

Lein Hing Group unveiled a joint CSR program with 99 Speedmart Sdn Bhd and Procter & Gamble (M) Sdn Bhd to be run from the 20th of May until the 19th of June. The initiative plans to raise RM100,000 in order to purchase dialysis machines and equipment for St John Ambulance of Malaysia in the treatment of their more than 450 patients.

Happy 39th birthday Lein Hing Group! We celebrated our 39th anniversary in grand style together with our principals, business associates, and staff members. Amidst the festivities, we also took the opportunity to honour our long serving employees. This year we gave out a record 36 long service awards, including 2 for employees who have served 25 years and 3 for employees who have hit the 30 year mark with us! Congratulations to all of you and thank you for your many years of dedication!!
CSR PROGRAM

Lein Hing Group partnered with Sunshine Wholesale Mart Sdn Bhd to initiate a month-long CSR program at Sunshine supermarkets in Penang. This program raised RM20,000 which was donated to Persatuan Kebajikan Orang Kurang Upaya Al Bokhari and Pertubuhan Rumah Kebajikan Seri Cahaya Pulau Pinang.
